Those numbers have correlated to impressive fantasy finishes. Jefferson finished as the WR6 in PPR formats in 2020, the WR4 in PPR formats in 2021, and the WR1 in PPR formats in 2022. The 24-year-old wideout is expected to be another top pick in fantasy drafts in 2023.
Is Jefferson the number-one overall pick in fantasy football this season? Let's take a look.
Justin Jefferson 2022 Season
Jefferson was an early pick in fantasy drafts last season, and the former LSU star did not disappoint. He reeled in a career-high 128 passes for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns. The Vikings wideout led the league in targets (184), receptions, and receiving yards in 2022.
In fantasy, Jefferson led all wide receivers with 368.7 PPR points last year. He averaged a whopping 21.7 PPR fantasy points per game and had nine top-four wide receiver finishes. The 6-foot-1 wideout also had an impressive nine games above 25 PPR points.
The 24-year-old superstar ranked second overall in PPR formats among all non-quarterbacks. He only trailed Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler's 372.7 points. Jefferson was the most consistent fantasy wide receiver in 2022, seeing 10-plus targets in 11 of 17 games in 2022.
Is Justin Jefferson the No. 1 Overall Pick for 2023 Fantasy Football?
Jefferson has steadily put up elite numbers in his first three NFL seasons. He has never finished lower than WR6 in fantasy and has yet to miss a single game in his career. The young wideout is the focal point of the Vikings' offense, and that won't change in 2023.
The 24-year-old superstar will enter his fourth season with a high ceiling and floor in Minnesota's offense. The Vikings threw the ball 64.4% last season – third most in the NFL – and that pace should continue with Kirk Cousins still under center. A 2,000-yard season for Jefferson is surely within reach.
Jefferson has the talent and recent success to be the first pick in fantasy football drafts this season. There's also a solid case for San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey for the top spot. But the Vikings wide receiver puts up elite fantasy production weekly and manages to stay on the field.
