Anthony Rizzo Hitting Leadoff Tuesday
1 year agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo is playing first base and is serving as the team's leadoff hitter for a tilt on Tuesday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Kyle Gibson. Rizzo dealt with an elbow injury late last week but played in both games of Saturday's doubleheader before getting a rest day on Sunday. Tuesday's game will be the first time that the 33-year-old left-handed slugger will hit leadoff in 2023, as the Yankees look to kick-start their struggling offense. Rizzo hasn't homered since all the way back on May 20, but he's been hitting well in his last 10 games, going 8-for-29 (.276) with a double, 10 walks and six runs scored. In five career at-bats against Gibson, Rizzo has a homer and is batting .400.
