Bryan De La Cruz Getting A Day Of Rest
1 year agoMiami Marlins outfielder Bryan De La Cruz isn't in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the division-rival Atlanta Braves. The Fish will give De La Cruz a breather after he snapped an 11-game hitting streak on Saturday by going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. In his absence, Jesus Sanchez will get the nod in left field and will bat fifth in the lineup against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. The 26-year-old De La Cruz had gone 16-for-46 (.348) with a home run, three doubles, five RBI and six runs scored in 48 plate appearances during his 11-game hitting streak to raise his season slash line to .277/.324/.422. Overall, the Dominican outfielder has nine long balls, 17 doubles, 43 RBI, three steals and 35 runs scored in 80 games in his third MLB campaign.
