1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals top pitching prospect Tink Hence has been promoted from High-A Peoria to Double-A Springfield on Saturday, according to a source. Hence was drafted in 2020 and ranks No. 63 overall on Keith Law's 2023 prospect rankings. MLB Pipeline as him ranked as St. Louis' No. 2 prospect behind shortstop Masyn Winn. The 20-year-old right-hander earned the promotion by going 2-1 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 12 walks and 46 strikeouts in 41 2/3 frames over 11 starts for Peoria. He also missed almost a month earlier this year with chest/oblique tightness. Hence was one of the best all-around pitchers in the minors in 2022 and he has a bright future, but it's probably unrealistic to expect him to make his big-league debut until next year, even with the Cardinals sitting in last place in the National League Central.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
