Reese Olson Exits After Being Hit By Comebacker
1 year agoThe Detroit Tigers are saying that rookie right-hander Reese Olson (knee) left his start early on Thursday against the Texas Rangers with a left-knee contusion after taking a comebacker off his leg with two outs in the second inning. Olson had a long chat with manager A.J. Hinch and athletic trainer Ryne Eubanks before departing. The 23-year-old allowed a run on three hits while walking one and striking out two in just 1 2/3 innings of work before having to exit the contest. Although the injury didn't look terribly serious, Olson's next scheduled start at home next week in a great matchup with the Oakland Athletics should be considered up in the air. Coming into Wednesday's start, Olson had allowed 15 runs (13 earned) on 20 hits (four homers) while walking six and striking out 28 in 24 2/3 innings over his first five MLB outings (four starts).
