Christian Encarnacion-Strand Making Start In Right Field
2 years agoCincinnati Reds prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand is making his first start in right field on Thursday for Triple-A Louisville as he adds another position along with first and third base. The added versatility will make the team's No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, even more valuable to the major-league squad whenever they decide to call him up. The Reds already have Spencer Steer at first base and should be getting veteran Joey Votto (shoulder) back soon, so the 23-year-old may have to play some outfield if he wants to get playing time in the big leagues once he's called up. He doesn't have much left to prove on the farm, as he's currently hitting .357/.426/.719 with a 1.145 OPS, 14 doubles, a triple, 17 home runs and 46 RBI in 44 games for Louisville. Encarnacion-Strand should already be rostered in all dynasty/keeper leagues.
