Casey Mize Playing Catch Regularly
2 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize (back, elbow) is playing catch four times a week as he recovers from Tommy John surgery in June of last year as well as back surgery. Mize had his rehab shut down around three weeks ago due to more back issues, but he's starting to ramp things up again. Hopefully, the 26-year-old right-hander will be able to get back on a mound by the end of June, and then he'll need to go on a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment. If Mize doesn't suffer any more setbacks along the way, he could be an option for Detroit in the second half of the 2023 season. Even if Mize rejoins the starting rotation in August or September, he's probably not going to have much fantasy upside as the Tigers play it safe with him.
