Eury Perez Could Be Sent To Minors Soon
2 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Eury Perez could be optioned to the minors when left-hander Trevor Rogers (biceps) returns from the injured list in the next week. Perez has been outstanding so far in his first six major-league starts, going 3-1 with a 2.17 ERA (4.34 FIP), 1.21 WHIP, 13 walks and 30 strikeouts in 29 innings pitched, but the Marlins want to limit the young right-hander's innings. The 20-year-old Dominican hurler hasn't tossed more than 78 innings in a single season, and he's already thrown a total of 60 innings in 2023 between the minors and the big leagues. There's a lot to like about Perez long term, but fantasy managers in redraft leagues are going to have to temper expectations the rest of the way.
