Chris Bassitt 5.0 Strikeouts (LOWER)
Bo Bichette 2.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (LOWER)
Freddie Freeman 10.5 Fantasy Points (LOWER)
Bassitt had been on a nice run, giving up two earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts. The run prevention was mostly there for Bassitt, but the strikeouts were not guaranteed. He's reached five strikeouts in his previous three starts, so it will probably be close. The 34-year-old is sporting his worst K/9 since 2016, and he's facing the Baltimore Orioles, who have the fifth-fewest strikeouts against right-handed pitching this season.
Bichette has been a bit cold lately, only collecting two hits in his last 18 at-bats. Today, Bichette is facing Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. In his 17 career at-bats against Kremer, Bichette is batting .176 (3-for-17). Bichette's cold streak may continue.
Freeman has been on fire this season, batting .338 with 13 home runs and 44 RBI. This call mainly hinges on the fact that Freeman is batting .111 in nine career at-bats against Lance Lynn, and everyone has to cool off some time. Freeman is one of the best hitters in baseball, but anything can happen.
Spencer Strider 9.0 Strikeouts (HIGHER)
Elly De La Cruz 0.5 Runs (HIGHER)
Tony Gonsolin 5.0 Strikeouts (HIGHER)
Strider has not reached 10 strikeouts in his last three starts, but I would bet on that changing. The Braves flamethrower is far and away the most prolific strikeout artist among starting pitchers, owning a 40.3% K% and 14.78 K/9. Strider is taking on the Detroit Tigers, who have the third-most strikeout against right-handed pitching this season. I fully expect Strider to rack up at least 10 strikeouts.
De La Cruz has been as good as advertised so far. He has been hitting balls hard and getting on base at an impressive rate. The Reds are not the best team, but they have a productive lineup that scored the ninth-most runs in the majors. De La Cruz's combination of power and speed give him an excellent chance to be in scoring position often, so I'm feeling good about him scoring a run today.
Gonsolin has not known for being a strikeout artist, but he could have a decent showing against the Chicago White Sox. Gonsolin has only reached five strikeouts in three of his last seven starts, but the White Sox have the ninth-most strikeouts against right-handed pitching this season. If the Dodgers pull to an early lead, White Sox hitters may become more aggressive at the plate and, therefore, more susceptible to striking out.
