Nico Collins 2023 Outlook: Plenty Of Upside, But Plenty Of Concerns As Well
2 years agoHouston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has a fairly large range of outcomes heading into 2023, owning largely to all the changes in Houston this offseason. There's a new offensive coordinator. A new quarterback. New receivers and tight ends around him. All this adds a lot of mystery to what Collins will do. While on paper he looks like he enters the year as either Houston's No. 1 or No. 2 receiver, that role might not be secure by the end of the year, as the team gets John Metchie III, a second-round pick in 2022 who missed his rookie season, back, and added Noah Brown, Tank Dell, and Xavier Hutchinson in the offseason. Last season, Collins played in 10 games, seeing 66 targets and hauling in 37 of them for 481 yards and two touchdowns. He was second on the team to Brandin Cooks in receiving yards per game with 48.1. There's definitely talent here, but with so many new pieces it's hard to get a read on Collins. RotoBaller has him ranked as WR54 in PPR leagues, which seems like a good place to take a risk on Collins. Draft him as a WR5, but know that if everything clicks, he could end up finishing as a WR3. Of course, a bad training camp could push him down in the rotation, but he's going late enough in drafts to make him worth that risk.
