Curtis Samuel 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Washington’s Offense Could Lead To Limited Opportunities
2 years agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel was an early season waiver wire pickup after going undrafted in most shallow leagues last year. Samuel averaged 13.2 PPR fantasy points per game in the first nine games with five top-30 wide receiver finishes. He tailed off toward the end of the year but still finished as the WR34. Samuel had 64 catches for 656 yards and four touchdowns while also running for 187 yards and one touchdown. It was a solid fantasy year for Samuel after missing most of the 2021 season with injuries. Given Washington's quarterback situation, his fantasy situation could be dicey this season. The Commanders are set to start a former fifth-round pick Sam Howell or veteran Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. With Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson also already big pieces in the offense, opportunities could be limited for Samuel on an offense that might not score many points in 2023. Samuel can be an occasional flex play if he develops a connection with either quarterback, but he might be better off on the waiver wire. He's ranked 171st overall in PPR leagues in the latest RotoBaller rankings.
