Casey Schmitt Out Against Brewers
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants rookie infielder Casey Schmitt (ankle) is not in the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. Schmitt received treatment on his ankle on Saturday after he rolled it in the game against Milwaukee, and now he'll take a day off to rest in the series finale. The 24-year-old former second-round pick has been excellent for the Gigantes since his first big-league call-up, as he's gone 23-for-70 (.329) with five doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI, two stolen bases and 10 runs in his first 18 MLB contests. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. With veteran Brandon Crawford struggling, Schmitt has taken over shortstop duties of late. But with Schmitt out on Sunday, Crawford will get the nod at the 6 and hit eighth against Brewers right-hander Colin Rea.
