Jacob deGrom Mixes In Offspeed Pitches In Latest Bullpen
2 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (elbow) threw a 31-pitch bullpen session on Friday in Baltimore, and manager Bruce Bochy said he "felt fine" while mixing in sliders and changeups for the first time since suffering from right-elbow inflammation. The Rangers will continue to evaluate deGrom, and they'll have a clearer picture of his timetable in the coming days. The 34-year-old left his April 28 start with right-forearm tightness and was put on the injured list the next day after his MRI exam showed elbow inflammation. deGrom has now thrown four bullpens, which is encouraging, but the Rangers are surely going to take things slowly with their oft-injured ace. He's looked good in six starts for Texas this year, posting a 2.67 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 45 K's in 30 1/3 innings.
