Michael Soroka Could Join Atlanta's Rotation
2 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Michael Soroka limited Triple-A Durham to one run and two hits while throwing 96 pitches and recording eight strikeouts over six innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday night down on the farm. It was his best start of the year, and he could be an option to join Atlanta's rotation at some point next week. He's trying to return to the majors for the first time since tearing his right Achilles on Aug. 3, 2020. The 25-year-old right-hander entered Tuesday's start having gone five innings in just one previous start, back on April 18. But his ability to get through six frames this week gives hope he will soon get a chance to recapture the promise he showed during his 2019 rookie season, when he ranked third in the National League with a 2.68 ERA. Those looking for rotation help may want to consider Soroka as a speculative waiver-wire pickup.
