Martin Truex Jr. Should Be Strong In All-Star Race
2 years agoShort, flat tracks are where Martin Truex Jr. has found plenty of success at during his storied NASCAR Cup Series career. He has also been strong at tracks with high tire wear. The good news for Truex is that North Wilkesboro, which is where Sunday night's All-Star Race will be held, is a combination of both. Truex will start from 12th in the 24-car field, but if he can get track position during the race, he should be able to contend for a top-five finish. Richmond Raceway is the most comparable track to North Wilkesboro, and Truex likely would have won there earlier this season if it wasn't for a late-race caution. In practice this weekend, Martin was fifth-best when it came to 10-lap average.
