Aaron Hicks Gets Designated For Assignment
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks has been designated for assignment on Saturday. The switch-hitter has been struggling, slashing .188/.263/.261 with one homer and five RBI in 20 games this season. The 33-year-old signed a seven-year, $70 million extension with the Yankees back in 2019. The Yankees have decided to eat nearly $30 million that remained on his deal through 2025. The expectation is that Hicks is going to clear waivers and be a free agent in the coming days. He should catch on elsewhere as a possible fourth outfielder, but his days of having fantasy value appear to be over.
