Joshua Palmer 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Is There Still A Role On This Crowded WR Depth Chart?
2 years agoDespite Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer leading the team's wideouts in targets and receptions in 2022, the Brampton, Ontario native's 2023 fantasy outlook took a massive hit after the NFL Draft. With the 21st pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Chargers selected big-bodied receiver Quentin Johnson. Going into the draft, Johnson was a polarizing prospect. However, you can't deny that type of draft capital. Suddenly Palmer has fallen fourth on the team's depth chart behind the rookie, aging veteran Keenan Allen, and the often-injured Mike Williams. Although Johnson changes things drastically, Palmer has proven he can be a solid depth receiver that can step up to the occasion when called upon. Palmer hauled in 72 passes for 769 yards and three touchdowns over 16 games in 2022. The 23-year-old saw uptick in targets mainly due to Allen and Williams missing significant time last season. Due to Johnson's pre-draft concerns, paying attention to the news of the rookie's progress in camp will be essential. If there is any concern about his development, Palmer is a solid best-ball pick, especially with this team's injury history.
