Seahawks Restructure Tyler Lockett's Contract
2 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks restructured the contract of wide receiver Tyler Lockett on Thursday, converting $8.535 million of his base salary into a signing bonus to create $5.69 million in salary cap space this year, according to a source. Lockett is 30 years old and still has three years left on his current deal, although the Seahawks could get out of the contract after this year. Both Lockett and DK Metcalf have been one of the better receiver duos in the NFL, but now Seattle has added a first-rounder in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, which clouds Lockett's long-term future with the organization. It could also lower his fantasy ceiling somewhat for the coming season, but Lockett still figures to be a top aerial target for quarterback Geno Smith.
