Rams Think Zach Evans Can Be Special
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams traded up 37 spots to select running back Zach Evans out of Ole Miss in this year's draft in the sixth round. NFL.com had a fourth-round grade on Evans, and he has the skills to be an every-down back at the next level. He has good speed, a nasty stiff arm and averaged 6.9 yards per carry in college at two different schools. Head coach Sean McVay said Evans has "special traits," so the team added him to a backfield already consisting of Cam Akers and Kyren Williams. According to McVay, Evans is a smooth runner who can "work edges on people." He averaged 3.56 yards after contact per carry in 2022 and was one of the most elusive backs in the nation. Evans won't be a starter right away, but he could carve out a nice third-down role as a big-play threat in his rookie season for the Rams.
