2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that relief pitcher Kenley Jansen (back) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday and is expected to be available to pitch on Thursday in the series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays. It's good news for Jansen and Boston's bullpen, as the 35-year-old right-handed veteran hasn't pitched since suffering from back tightness in his last outing on Saturday. With Jansen still unavailable, Josh Winckowski picked up the save on Tuesday, but Jansen should return to primary closing duties for the BoSox when he's ready to return. He did blow his last save chance on Saturday when his back wasn't feeling great, but overall Jansen has a tidy 1.04 ERA (1.29 FIP), 1.04 WHIP, six saves, only two walks and 12 strikeouts in his 8 2/3 relief innings so far this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
