Gavin Williams Delivers Five No-Hit Innings In Start
2 years agoCleveland Guardians' No. 2 ranked prospect Gavin Williams threw five shutout innings, striking out eight batters during his start for Double-A Akron on Thursday night. The performance continues his dominant start to the campaign. Williams owns a 0.63 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts over 14 1/3 innings pitched through three appearances. The 23-year-old posted a 2.31 ERA with 82 strikeouts over 70 innings in Double-A last season, and he remains a strong candidate to appear in Cleveland's big-league rotation at some point in 2023. Williams is worth a speculative stash for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.
