Spencer Torkelson Sitting On Sunday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. It appears to be a normal day of rest for Torkelson in the series finale against the Gigantes. In his absence, Tyler Nevin will get the start at the cold corner and will hit sixth against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. Torkelson, the first overall pick in 2020, continues to struggle with pitching at the big-league level, as he's gone 12-for-56 (.214) with just one home run, eight RBI and seven runs scored in his first 14 games in 2023. In his first 124 major-league games with Detroit, he's slashing .204/.276/.320 with nine homers, 36 RBI and 113 strikeouts in 463 plate appearances.
