2 years agoOne of the more pleasant surprises lately when it comes to "underdogs" in NASCAR has been Todd Gilliland, who got his second top 10 of the season (and fourth straight top 15) in the Bristol Dirt Race last weekend. Gilliland drives a partial schedule for the #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford, a team that is usually deemed to have a good day if they finish in the high 20s--so you can put into perspective how good this recent top 15 streak has been. As far as this weekend at Martinsville, it honestly wouldn't be too surprising if Gilliland continues to run strong, as he started 19th and finished 13th here in the fall Playoff race last season. In practice on Saturday, Gilliland was 27th-fastest with a lap of 20.732 seconds. He turned a lap of 20.267 seconds during qualifying and will start from 13th in Sunday's NOCO 400.--Jordan McAbee
