Colts Restructure DeForest Buckner's Contract
2 years agoThe Indianapolis Colts converted $5 million of defensive tackle DeForest Buckner's salary this year into a signing bonus to clear $2.5 million in salary cap space. He will still make $19.75 million in 2023, which is now fully guaranteed. The 29-year-old pass-rusher is heading into his fourth year with the Colts, and he had a career-high 74 tackles (44 solo), eight sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 22 QB hits, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 17 games (16 starts) for Indy last season. The two-time Pro Bowler will be on the IDP radar again in 2023. The former first-round pick (seventh overall) of the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 has 463 tackles (287 solo), 53 sacks, 69 tackles for loss, 140 QB hits, 20 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown) in his seven NFL seasons.
