Matt Vierling Sitting Against Red Sox
2 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling is not in Sunday's starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox. Vierling has surprisingly already played in seven games for the Tigers in the early going with the team facing a lot of lefties early on, and he's gone 8-for-28 (.286) with a double, home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in 30 plate appearances in his first year in Detroit. The 26-year-old should continue to see regular playing time with Austin Meadows going on the injured list with anxiety. With Vierling out in the series finale against Boston, Akil Baddoo will start in left field and bat leadoff against right-hander Kutter Crawford. Baddoo was just called up with Meadows going on the IL and will have a chance to make an impact right away.
