Jets Sign Tim Boyle To One-Year Deal
2 years agoThe New York Jets signed veteran free-agent quarterback Tim Boyle to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Boyle will be reunited with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who served as an offensive coordinator previously with the Green Bay Packers. The Jets also have former first-rounder Zach Wilson as a backup option in New York, but they're fully expected to eventually finalize a trade to land Packers future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers. Given Wilson's struggles in his first couple years with the Jets, it's totally possible that Boyle has a shot to supplant him as the primary backup to Rodgers in 2023. The 28-year-old has played in 17 games (three starts) in four NFL seasons with the Packers (2019-20), Detroit Lions (2021) and Chicago Bears (2022).
