Garrett Whitlock Making Rehab Start Friday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Garrett Whitlock (hip) is making a minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester on Friday and then again likely on April 5, so it's a good guess that he'll make his 2023 regular season debut on April 11 against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. Whitlock is currently on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 27. The 26-year-old is building his arm up for a starting role after having surgery on his right hip last September. He was able to throw four innings in a minor-league game last week, so Whitlock is getting close to being ready. Whitlock is expected to be a key piece of Boston's rotation this year, but workload restrictions could be the biggest thing holding him back from a fantasy perspective.
