Chris Buescher Slow At COTA, Hopes To Find Road Course Speed From Last Season
2 years agoOne surprising driver who showed plenty of speed on road course races last season was Chris Buescher, who ranked 3rd-fastest overall when it came to Total Speed Rankings on this particular track type. Buescher has always been a better-than-average road course racer, but he really got people's attention last year with his 2nd-place finish at Sonoma. Buescher also added top 10 finishes at Watkins Glen, Road America, Charlotte Roval, and the Indy Road Course. This weekend at Circuit of the Americas, though, Buescher struggled in practice on Friday, posting the 31st-fastest lap with a speed of 91.497 mph. In qualifying, he ended up 32nd on the board with a speed of 92.150 mph. Buescher has posted results of 13th and 21st in his two Cup Series starts at this race track but will likely struggle to improve his career-best finish at COTA in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix this weekend.
