Chargers Give Austin Ekeler Permission To Seek Trade
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers have granted permission to running back Austin Ekeler to seek a trade after the two sides failed to make progress on a new contract, according to his agent Cameron Weiss. Ekeler is entering the final year of his four-year, $24.5 million deal and is scheduled to earn $6.25 million in 2023. There's still a chance the 27-year-old can work something out with the Bolts to stick around, but this is a situation to keep a close eye on this offseason. If Ekeler were to bolt to another team via trade, Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller would see their roles increase dramatically in a potent offense. Ekeler was the No. 2 fantasy back in 2022 and is even more valuable in PPR leagues, but a trade to a new club could hurt his overall fantasy outlook in 2023.
