Semyon Varlamov Starts For Islanders On Saturday
2 years agoNew York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov will log his 21st start of the campaign Saturday against Washington. It's going to be his first outing since Varlamov bagged his second shutout of the season against Winnipeg on Feb. 26. Ilya Sorokin has since then gone 3-0-1, but the Islanders No. 1 is getting a rest day against the Capitals. Varlamov, who started his NHL career with Washington all the way back in 2008-09, has put together a decent 11-7-3 record this season, allowing 2.68 goals per game with a .914 save percentage. The Capitals have dropped nine of their last 12 games, so Varlamov finds himself in a good position to pick up another win.
