Saints, Michael Thomas Have Made Progress On Extension
2 years agoThere has been recent progress in talks between the New Orleans Saints and wide receiver Michael Thomas on a contract extension this offseason, according to sources. A deal isn't done yet, but talks have been productive. When Thomas restructured his contract in early January, the Saints added an almost $32 million roster bonus guaranteed on the third day of the new league year, which is coming next week. If the two sides cannot agree on a deal, the Saints will likely cut Thomas. The 30-year-old three-time Pro Bowler had an NFL-high 149 receptions for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns in 2019 before being decimated by injuries the last three years. Thomas has played in just 10 games since 2020. Nobody's stock has fallen as much recently as Thomas'.
