Andrew McCutchen Playing Against Blue Jays
2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen (hand) is back in the team's Grapefruit League lineup on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays and left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, and he's serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the lineup. McCutchen left Sunday's game early against the Minnesota Twins due to hand soreness, but it was merely a precautionary measure. Back with Pittsburgh, McCutchen is expected to open the 2023 regular season as the team's primary right fielder, which will give him appeal in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. The 36-year-old is far removed from his prime, and his power took a big drop in 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers. Even with the rebuilding Bucs, there's a chance McCutchen could become a platoon player eventually this year.
