Saints Signing Derek Carr To Four-Year Deal
2 years agoThe New Orleans Saints have emerged as the front-runners to sign free-agent quarterback Derek Carr. The two sides appear to be close on a deal that could be finalized in the next 24 hours. The deal is reportedly a four-year contract, but the salary has not been announced yet. On paper, the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback is an upgrade to this Saints offense. The Saints should be able to throw deep more often with Carr than they were able to with Andy Dalton under center. The move to get Carr should give a boost to second-year wide receiver Chris Olave. Also, Michael Thomas might be more willing to stay in New Orleans with Carr there. Normally, the Saints are a run-heavy team, but running back Alvin Kamara could be facing a lengthy suspension. That being said, the Saints may decide to air it out with Carr, which means he could be a decent fantasy QB this upcoming season.
