Cowboys Plan To Use Franchise Tag On Tony Pollard
2 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys will place the franchise tag on impending free-agent running back Tony Pollard if the two sides cannot work out a long-term deal by Tuesday's deadline to use the franchise tag, according to sources. The Cowboys have been clear that the tag is an option with Pollard and they aren't in the business of letting great players walk. Pollard will be with the team in 2023 and is fully expected to have lead-back duties over the declining Ezekiel Elliott, if he's even still around. The 25-year-old proved to be Dallas' most explosive back for the second straight year, but he broke his fibula and suffered a high-ankle sprain in the playoffs and had offseason surgery on his ankle. As long as Pollard is ready to go for the start of the 2023 season, he should be a clear RB1 target in fantasy.
