Duane Brown, Mekhi Becton Recovering From Injuries
2 years agoNew York Jets offensive tackle Duane Brown (shoulder) missed the first four games last year and required surgery in the offseason, but "he's recovering well," according to general manager Joe Douglas. Brown turns 38 in August, though, and retirement is a possibility this offseason. Left tackle Mekhi Becton (knee) hasn't played much in his time with the Jets, but Douglas said he's ready to return to starting form in 2023. Left tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker (elbow) is also recovering this offseason from a season-ending elbow injury. He's the only Jets O-lineman since at least 2006 to start at three different positions in the same season, so he gives the team some flexibility on the offensive line. If Brown ends up retiring, hopefully Becton will be able to hold down the starting left tackle position.
