Brandon Belt A Week Away From Spring Debut
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Brandon Belt (knee) is a week away from making his spring training debut. Belt underwent season-ending knee surgery last September and is hoping to put together a healthy 2023 season. The 34-year-old was one of the offseason additions for the Blue Jays and signed to a one-year, $9.3 million deal. Belt spent the past 12 seasons with the San Francisco Giants and will be swapping jerseys for the first time in his career. He slashed .213/.326/.350 across just 298 plate appearances in 2022. He posted a .676 OPS along with a 27.2% strikeout rate and a 12.4% walk rate. Aside from his season-ending surgery, Belt suffered several other setbacks throughout the season. The Blue Jays are hoping to get Belt back on track as his age-35 season approaches.
