2 years agoDetroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal (elbow) is completing his throwing progression and is playing catch five times a week right now. It's good progress for Skubal, but he will still miss the first couple months of the 2023 campaign due to a left elbow strain. When he's ready to return, he will have a spot in Detroit's starting rotation waiting for him after he posted a career-best 3.52 ERA (2.96 FIP), 1.16 WHIP and 24.5 percent strikeout rate in 117 2/3 innings over 21 starts in his third MLB season. Skubal had surgery to fix a flexor tendon last year and could have his workload monitored this year, but he'll be a popular waiver-wire pickup in mixed leagues once he nears a return to the team around June.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
