Seattle Could Draft QB Despite Geno Smith Talks
2 years agoAccording to Brady Henderson of ESPN, the Seahawks haven't ruled out selecting a quarterback in the NFL Draft. Seattle is still working on a deal to bring back Geno Smith, who is coming off the best year of his career. However, with general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll intrigued by the number of quality quarterbacks in the 2023 class, they may go in that direction with the No. 5 overall pick. "We are totally connected to the quarterbacks that are coming out," said Carroll while speaking to reporters. "This is a rare opportunity for us." Talks with Smith have been "positive." Yet, Schneider didn't rule out utilizing the franchise tag on the veteran. That said, if the Seahawks select a signal-caller, he'll unlikely be thrust into action immediately, presumably taking time to learn under Smith, assuming he agrees to remain in Seattle.
