White Sox Won't Use Traditional Closer
2 years agoChicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said on Monday that the organization doesn't plan to use a set closer to begin the season. The team is still without right-hander Liam Hendriks who continues to undergo treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The organization doesn't have a timetable for his return, but hopefully he'll be able to pitch at some point. Until then, it sounds like the White Sox plan to go closer-by-committee. The primary candidates are Kendall Graveman, Joe Kelly, and Aaron Bummer. There probably won't be anymore clarity on this situation until closer to Opening Day.
