2 years agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Jason Foley is hoping to have an increased role in the bullpen in 2023. With the departures of several bullpen arms over the offseason that depleted the Tigers' pitching depth, Foley will have an opportunity to shine. Relievers such as Andrew Chafin, Wily Peralta, Daniel Norris and Kyle Funkhouser were all dealt to different teams over the offseason. If Foley can emulate the success that he had in 2022, he could be in line for some closing opportunities in 2023. The 27-year-old composed a 3.88 ERA (2.76 FIP) while striking out 43 batters across 60 1/3 innings. He's currently listed as a setup man, according to Fangraphs, but Foley has been seriously considered to become the next Tigers' closer.--Rephael Negnewitzky
