Spencer Strider Looks Good In Live BP
2 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider retired all three batters he faced, including striking out Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr., in a live batting practice session on Wednesday. It was Strider's first action of spring training. The 24-year-old right-hander was excellent for the Braves in his rookie season in 2022, going 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), 0.99 WHIP and 38.3 percent strikeout rate in 131 2/3 innings covering 31 outings (20 starts). Despite throwing only 131 2/3 frames, he was one of just 11 big-league pitchers to top 200 strikeouts on the year, showing just how much fantasy upside he has in the long term. There will probably be innings restrictions in 2023 in his second full season, but Strider is a fine fantasy target with elite swing-and-miss stuff.
