2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez is expected to serve as the team's full-time DH in his first year with the team. In the first season of the universal DH in 2022, four Dodgers players appeared at the position at least 20 times -- Justin Turner, Max Muncy, Will Smith and Edwin Rios. With Martinez being the full-time DH, it will mean that Smith will just have more off days. "I don't expect J.D. to DH 162. But he's going to be the guy who's going to be in that position 99.9 percent of the time. So if there is a time Will doesn't play, it'll just be an off day" manager Dave Roberts said. The five-time All-Star's power took a big dip last year (16 homers), but he also had a career-high 43 doubles.
