1 year agoThe Los Angeles Angels announced on Thursday that starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani will get the Opening Day nod on March 30 on the road against the Oakland Athletics. It's a no-brainer and shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. The 28-year-old should also get the Angels' home opener on April 7 in a much tougher matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays. Ohtani is expected to pitch more on five days of rest in 2023 after he made 16 of his 28 starts in 2022 on six days of rest. It will allow him to make more starts, but it could also affect his effectiveness on the mound.
