Felix Bautista Behind In Spring Training
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles closer Felix Bautista (knee, shoulder) will be late getting into Grapefruit League games in spring training while on a strengthening program for his knee and shoulder, according to general manager Mike Elias. However, it's still possible that Bautista could be ready for Opening Day. The 27-year-old finished the 2022 season on the injured list with left knee soreness, and it's apparently still bothering him, in addition to a shoulder injury. He won't need all that much time to get ready since he's a reliever, but he's one to watch this spring. Reliever Dillon Tate (elbow) will open the year on the injured list, so Baltimore's bullpen is limping into the start of 2023. If Bautista isn't ready, Mychal Givens could be the O's primary closer early on.
