Raiders To Release Derek Carr Before Tuesday Deadline
2 years agoThe Las Vegas Raiders will be releasing quarterback Derek Carr in advance of his money becoming fully guaranteed on Tuesday. Carr informed the Raiders on Sunday that he wasn't willing to accept a trade to the New Orleans Saints or any other team due to his no-trade clause. It was a long shot that the Raiders were going to be able to work out a trade for the 31-year-old after benching him for the final two regular season games and effectively moving on from him after nine years with the organization. He will immediately become a top free agent, and he'll get a head start on the QB market before the new league year begins in March. There should be no shortage of interest in Carr, with teams such as the Saints, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers expected to be interested.
