Kolten Wong 2023 Fantasy Outlook: Low Ceiling In Move To Seattle
2 years agoSecond baseman Kolten Wong finds himself with his third MLB team in the Seattle Mariners in 2023 after he was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason. He's expected to replace Adam Frazier as Seattle's starting second baseman after hitting .251/.339/.430 with a .770 OPS, career-high 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 65 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 134 games. The 32-year-old veteran had a much better second half at the plate, but his struggles against left-handed pitching were a problem and could leave him vulnerable to platoon duties in Seattle if he continues to struggle against them. Wong should continue to be a decent source of power and speed at the position in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, but he's unlikely to have a career year in his 11th MLB season with the move to Seattle, especially if he begins to run less. On top of it, Wong's defense slipped in his final season in Milwaukee.
