Dodgers Sign Rubby De La Rosa To Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent right-hander Rubby De La Rosa to a minor-league deal on Friday. De La Rosa hasn't pitched in the majors since making nine relief appearances for the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2017. The 33-year-old started in the Dodgers organization and made his MLB debut with the Blue in 2011. He's spent the last four years playing professionally in Japan for the Yomiuri Giants. In parts of seven major-league seasons for the Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and D-backs, De La Rosa has a 4.49 ERA (4.55 FIP), 1.39 WHIP and 19.6 percent strikeout rate in 421 1/3 innings pitched over 98 appearances (70 starts). He will represent pitching depth for the Dodgers in 2023 and is likely to start in the minor leagues.
