Aaron Ekblad Makes Panthers History
2 years agoFlorida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad had one of his best offensive performances of the season in Tuesday's 7-6 overtime loss to Pittsburgh, posting three points with a goal and two assists. He became the first Panthers defenseman ever with multiple short-handed goals and set up Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe for a pair of first-period tallies. Ekblad was plus-two for the night and added five shots and two hits to his line in 24:04 of ice time. The two-time All-Star has been off his game since the start of last month, collecting only 13 points after opening the reason with a run of 10 points in 12 games. He has eight goals and 15 assists for the season through 39 appearances with 106 shots on goal, 37 hits and 49 blocks.
