Mets, Pete Alonso Avoid Salary Arbitration
2 years agoThe New York Mets and first baseman Pete Alonso agreed to a one-year, $14.5 million deal on Friday to avoid salary arbitration. Alonso made his second All-Star team in 2022 and finished the regular season with 40 long balls, a league-high 131 RBI, 95 runs scored, five stolen bases, a .271/.352/.518 slash line and an .869 OPS in 685 plate appearances and 160 games. The former National League Rookie of the Year in 2019 is one of the best power hitters in baseball and resides in one of the better lineups in baseball, which makes him a top-25 fantasy target, regardless of position, early in drafts. Alonso has mashed 146 home runs and driven in 380 runs in his first four major-league seasons.
