Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Gets $14.5 To Avoid Arbitration
2 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays and first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $14.5 million deal. Guerrero is coming off back-to-back All-Star seasons for the Blue Jays. He finished second in the American League MVP voting in 2021 but took a slight step back in 2022. The 23-year-old remains one of the best power hitters in the game in a hitter-friendly environment and a potent lineup, though, and he finished 2022 with a .274/.339/.480 slash line, .818 OPS, 32 home runs, 97 RBI, 90 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 706 plate appearances over 160 games. The 23-year-old has gotten his body right and it has paid off, as he's missed just three games the last two seasons.
